The Cherry Hill High School West staff and family would like to welcome you to the other half of education – ATHLETICS! We at West consider athletics to be an essential and dynamic aspect of the overall education process. Participation in athletics is a PRIVILEGE that all students have. Each athlete will be expected to accept training rules and regulations that are specific for each sport. Individual team rules are on file in the Athletic Director’s office. Student-Athletes are to conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen at all times. Their actions are not only reflective of their coaches at school, but of their parents and guardians as well.

Policies & Tools
NJ High School Sports Concussion Policy
New Jersey State mandated Sports Concussion Policy - recently adopted by the Cherry Hill Board of Education
This policy is to be provided to all student-athletes, parents, and/or guardians. After reviewing the Policy, please complete and sign Appendix A and return it to the West Athletic Office.
Athletic Eligibility at CHW
As a member of the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), Cherry Hill West adheres to the association’s eligibility rules for participation in both athletics and activities.
- An incoming freshman has no credit requirements for the fall and winter seasons. However, to be eligible to participate in the spring season, a student must be passing at least 15 credits for the first semester (based on mid-year average).
- Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to participate in athletics and activities during the fall and winter seasons if they passed 30 credits during the preceding academic year. To be eligible in the spring, a student must be passing 15 credits at the conclusion of the first semester.
- An athlete becomes ineligible for high school athletics if he/she attains the age of nineteen prior to September 1 of any school year. However, any athlete attaining age nineteen (19) on or after September 1 shall be eligible for the ensuing school year.
Academic Responsibility at CHW - "What being a scholar-athlete really means..."
Students who participate in activities and athletics must always realize that their first responsibility is to their academics; therefore, a meeting, rehearsal, practice or a game, etc. is not an excuse for avoiding a makeup test or any other academic responsibility. It is a student’s responsibility to alert his faculty sponsor or coach of anticipated lateness or absence when taking makeup assessments or attending reviews, etc. Participation is no reason to postpone taking a test or handing in a project.
